Architecture

Here's the thing, I LOVE architecture. I can't believe almost 2 years ago, I left a 19 year career in design & construction, to become an invitation expert & owner of an event venue in downtown Elgin. Though I have no regrets of following my new creative passions, I really miss my 1st love, architecture. I've come up with the perfect solution of how I can combine my 1st love with my new ones; blog about them.

This new year, look forward to more reads on what truly inspires and tantalizes my creative senses, view fantastic visuals on architecture, interior designs and of course IJORERE The Invitation. Welcome to 2015!

This gorgeous 'would be' building is designed to be the 1st sustainable mixed-use condominium in Miami. And yes, those are wind turbines you see incorporated, for natural cooling, to this 400' tall structure! Uwayemen & Reagan’s IJORERE

I'm so excited to share Uwa & Reagan's destination wedding, which took place in the tropics of Puerto Rico! Uwayemen, or Precious, as I liked to call her, contacted me directly regarding her invitations. She wanted an intricate laser cut look without the intricate laser cut price tag. I went to work right away to creatively cut corners for her dream wedding suites.

I did a quick search on etsy and discovered another stationery vendor that sells pre-made lasercut foil dollies…it was the prefect match for what my IjoBride desired. I love it when we invitationers come together to collaborate and not compete, anyway back to my story: once I showed Precious images of the dollies, she absolutely feel in-love. I wasn't surprised when her beau came back again to order more suites, but I must say I was in total awe when I saw photos of her wedding dinner reception, which showcased gold place mats in lieu of chargers. Clearly this must have been inspired from the look of our gold dollies on The Invitation, we designed for Precious.

A special shout-out to Dure Events on their keen sense in details & successfully incorporating our wedding invitation designs created for Precious & Reagan's IJORERE.

Without further ado, feast your eyes on gorgeousness!

Marsala ~ Pantone 2015

This time every year the industry watches very closely with anticipation for announcements of the new pantone color of the year. And if you didn't know, Pantone IS the worldwide standard for color communication and inspiration since 1963.

This year is all about earth…that is, color of the earth, MARSALA. Now, quite a few have doubts about this earthy full bodied tone, but let's be open minded here and discover why this should be the color of the year 2015.

Marsala is warm and inviting, it's robust and when paired up with the right color combo, WOW! what an impression that leaves.

Marsala works well with 2014's pantone color of the year, radiant orchid. It also pairs well with subtle colors, like, cream, mauve & champagne.

Below is a visual palette with some of IJORERE invitations collection paired up nicely with MARSALA. ENJOY!

Eclectic Luxury bridal Campaign

My concept: Eclectic Luxury. I love an unusual mix of vintage, contemporary with a cup of European flair. I especially go for ideas one wouldn't think could work together so beautifully. I picked out an emerald green patterned African batik fabric, known as ankara as my table runner and headed to Macy's to purchase mixed match sets of dinnerware for my tablescape. I envisioned vibrant multicultural colors that would appeal to the majority, and came up with shades of emerald green, turquoise, different hues of pink and antique gold as my accent colors.

My goal:  It was important to entice my audience, and re-introduce Ola la for its intended use; a luxurious and intimate space suitable for weddings, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and more. I also really wanted to feature the beautiful backdrops offered in the very quaint & historic city where my venue resides, downtown Elgin.

The date was Sunday, July 27th. I wanted it to be a sunset shoot, so we waiting till evening as the sun went down, it was so romantic.

We had five models, two editorial stylists & make up artists, a floral head piece designer, two professional photographers, a calligrapher, a painter, a florist, bridal wear (all hand picked by moi), and Stephanie, my wonderful cake lady. Jorelle surprised us with a video trailer he had created during our bridal preps, check it out! – Behind the Scenes

Everyone was in high spirit, working diligently to showcase their talents, excited for the outcome. It took about three months of coordination, to make this all happen to my heart's delight. And what an accomplishment! The end results, was everything I envisioned and more. Pure Perfection!…see for yourself.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to my preferred & most trusted vendors below, and the models for joyfully participating in this first luxury bridal shoot. There will be more GRAND editorials to come. Thank you so much.

Holiday Cards for Black Entertainment Television

Happy New Year IJOREREans! I can't believe it's been almost 6 years since I established IJORERE The Invitation, Inc.and WOW It is truly fulfilling, certainly an honor to be recognized and highly respected for my craft. IJORERE is now known in various parts of the countries, around the world…isn't that just mind boggling!

Not too long ago, IJORERE was summoned by none other than Black Entertainment Television to design Holiday cards. I'm still in awe! The order came in right before thanksgivings. How do one make time to design & create couture suites in less than three weeks?!! This sort of project normally takes at least 3-6 months to achieve, but when you get a remarkable request like this, one cannot refuse!

I'm so blessed to have an awesome group of team members. They literally dropped everything to make this project happen, we all understood this was BIG time for the business. We worked through the wee hours for this masterpiece. That night lamp really burned lol. I'm especially thankful to Michele, she's my right hand lady, any time I sketch out my ideas, she brings my concepts to life and makes them spectacular!

The president of media sales for BET, Louis Carr & his wife Diane Carr, were extremely pleased with the results. These holiday cards went out to 150 of Mr. Carr's very private social circle, A list celebrities, and other famous socialites…I wish I could share names, but of course, I can't.

And the GRAND part of it all, Mr. Carr & his lovely wife were so impressed, IJORERE The Invitation, Inc. will continue providing annual holiday cards for BET Network.

Now let's not wait a minute longer and walk our eyes down to the visual delights below!

“Love is in the Details”

Aahhh, what a day, what a day. Today we had a snow storm. Thus the reality that winter is really here, hits my head like an apple that falls off a tree! IT HURTS.
Anyway, this gives me a little time to blog 😉

I was reading “O” Magazine the other day, subject matter was on 25 years of Ms. Winfrey’s success. She talked about how she started out, still recalling the times she would get on public transit to work and so on. I noticed a few key things in my reading. Her favorite color IS really green, and then she mentioned a statement that is so true to what I do & just LOVE doing. She said “Love IS in the Details”. Here are some wonderful shots of IJORERE Invitations, pay attention to the details and where my ideas are derived from.

I was day dreaming about somewhere in Asia, “Chinese sticks & bamboo trees”.

Below, There Goes that RED DOT I love Again!!

I really love using this font Style, It’s so flamboyant yet Romantic!

I designed the next series below without the slightest idea of where my inspiration came from. I gave my photographer, Carrianne this ‘Gele’ as a back drop for my Invitations and she pin pointed what I was subconsciously thinking of! Which was this beautiful, Shiny & Colorful ‘Gele’ & the floral prints on it!

Hope this was delicious to your eyes:-)
