Monday a la Mode: The Oscars® Top 10 Gowns

Let's celebrate this year's Academy Awards® by counting down IJORERE style,

what we believe are the ten most beautiful, inspiring of GRAND gowns from last night's Gala.

Halle, as always, gorgeous and impervious to time.

Quvezhané and her adorable puppy purse had to make it to our list too.

Donning the bright colors of Nigeria, Folake represents her culture and background in style.

Kerry Washington looks lovely in Coral & Gold!

Robin Roberts dazzles and shows she can beat cancer and look stunning all at the same time.

Naomi makes a statement with this asymmetrical metallic dress. Bold choice!

Now this was a tough choice! Zoe's form fitting and elegant simplicity vs. Jennifer's dramatic statement.

Both dresses are beautiful, but I feel Jennifer's Dior gown had the impact appropriate for the Oscars.

Oh the details! This dress seems simple at first glance, but the elegance and attention to

detail this Dior Haute Couture gown exhibits is beyond what a couple pictures can show.

Charlize looked glamorous and regal!

Our number one: Jessica Chastain.

She resembles a 1940's diva in this "Old Hollywood" gown by Armani Prive.

Everything about this is perfect; from the color, to the fit, to the details in the fabric.

Few celebrities can wear such a dress with the confidence and charm Jessica has.

Congratulations on the divine look!

Satur de Merlot: The Japanese Paper Place

What can be more exciting, when planing a grand day, than to put together your invitations and find that special paper that ties the look together. Here at IJORERE we find inspiration in many places; one of them would be The Japanese Paper Place. In 1982, owner Nancy Jacobi opened The Japanese Paper Place retail store in Toronto to encourage artists and creative people everywhere to learn about the unique qualities of traditional Japanese papers. Now, almost thirty years later, The JPP warehouse supplies several thousand different kinds of Japanese paper to retailers, manufacturers and artists around the world.

The Japanese Paper Place encourages creativity through the use of Japanese paper. They also host exhibitions and workshops locally, lecture worldwide, and bring Japanese papermakers and washi users together. Their main business these days is to wholesale large portions of their inventory around the world. All papers are available in full sheet sizes, and their full-time cutter can also customize sheet sizes to meet any needs.

Maybe you might want to use some of this inspiration for your IJORERE! Don't doubt contacting us for any ideas or cool concepts you might want to put together!

Mondays a la Mode: Akiyo Henna Studio

Henna has been used for centuries to celebrate GRAND events, especially weddings in the African & Indian culture. Brides traditionally get beautifully elaborate mehndis (hand to elbow design) to adorn their skin for their IJORERE. Today, henna designs can be used for many ocassions, from baby showers, to bachelorette parties.

This column post features the work of Akiyo Ogura. Her company, Akiyo Henna, Inc. offers beautiful, exotic, temporary body art in the traditions of India, Morocco, North Africa, and the Middle East with the twist of contemporary design aesthetics. Interestly enough Akiyo is Japanese! We worked with Akiyo in 2010 for Carrie & Ajay's IJORERE and she design the Henna motif we embossed for their luxurious invitations.

Akiyo is a very talented and professional henna artist who has been practicing the art of henna for the past 10 years in the NYC Tristate area.
